Fatherhood is not about whose sperm swam the fastest, or who was in the right space and time to fertilize that waiting mature egg.
No, not at all.
Fatherhood is not even about gender.
Fatherhood is the willing submission to a lifetime of responsibility. It is taking on full-time job from which there’s no vacation, a dedication to care and service, and a conscious commitment to shape one or more dependent humans so that they can grow into people capable of impacting the world with purpose.
Fatherhood is a consciously taken and wholly selfless decision.
Today we celebrate good Fathers (men, single moms and widows included). We say thank you for the guidance, for being shining examples and role models worthy of emulating, and for being such good friends. Thank you for being our super heroes. Thank you for all the sacrifice and effort that you put into making us great men and women.
We can’t thank you enough for the love.
We pray that the Almighty keeps blessing you with wisdom to steer us in the right direction, we pray He gives you the will to take those necessary decisions no matter how hard and unpalatable, and above all we pray that you will never lack the means to play your role in our lives effectively.
God will grant you strength and longevity to see
the greatness we’re going to become, and the fruits of your labor will not elude you, or be sour to your taste. Amen
To the Fathers – in – waiting, God will bless your seed. Soon we shall hear the patter of little feet in your abode, and by the next Fathers’ Day you will be able to celebrate at your rightful place. Amen.
To the Fathers that have already left to be with the Lord, we pray you continue to rest well. Your legacy lives on in us, we pray never to bring disrepute to, or tarnish the good name you left behind, and we want to assure you that we will never forget you, not even for one minute.
Happy Fathers’ Day to all deserving.
God Bless You All.
P.S – If for any reason you have a child (or children), and you are not yet a good father, it is our prayer that God changes your heart for the better. There is always a space for good fathers, and the world certainly does need you.
