An Abundance of Scorpions is the story of loss. The book opens with the death of Tambaya’s immediate family (husband and only daughter) and goes on to detail the obstacles she faces in picking up her life after the unfortunate event. Alone and desperately in need of means to settle huge debts left behind by her late husband, she is soon forced back into the labor market to either sink or swim.

Written in easily understandable language, the gripping story touches on many contemporary issues affecting women in Nigeria including child trafficking, widowhood, police intimidation, religion, work place politics amongst others.
